THAILAND

after almost 1 year in HK, I decided to take holidays and visit a bit south east asia, the impulse for this holidays was Beczy, once he just send me message on FB if I dont want to join him for holidays in Thailand and Th Philippines and I said - why not :) From Hong Kong its pretty close and I always wanted to see those places.

Elephants

I Thailand I really started to love elephants, i could not wait to see an elephant which is walking in the street in Bangkok and feed him with the sugar cane sticks, I think i tookpicture with almost every elephant we have met, and Laurent and Beczy started to have a fun from me...bu they are soo cute (the elephants) !! You can meet them compeltely everywhere even at the gas station.

Temples

omg, sooo many amazing temples everywhere...such a peaceful place and much, much more better than churches (when you are with no religion). In one of them, I was around 1 hour / Temple of I think smaragd Buddha in the Bangkok, and I was reflecting about my experience in Asia so far.

Cowboy Soi (i hope the name is right)

yes, one of the famous red light district in Bangkok, as real tourist willing to try everything, we enter into one bar - ok, no ping - pong show, there was kind of show but nothing really extra special, you can see girls dancing, being as waitress and all of them are haivng numbers, so you just pick one and go...even they are saying that all the girls are over 18 i think somewhere it doesnt have to be necesarrily true.

Ladyboys

What is more dangerous in Bangkok, esp. for boys are ladyboys - OMG, some of them are so pretyt that you have no chance to recognize it till the moment, you will find out, thay have a bit more than normal girls...
We had really cool experience with ladyboys...at the pisture next to lying buddha, how many girls do you think are there on the picture? We were lucky, that in the time, when we arrived there, they started to dress buddha and ask us to join them, after comming more close, we realized (esp. Laurent and Beczy) that the girls are not so much as girls, but anyway we had a lot, lot of fun...how many people are dressing buddha with Ladyboys???

Raining and storms

Petra and Shantanu in Hong Kong

this is event which needs to have special post - meeting those two people in HK...both of them are conencted to AIESEC Czech Republic and to AIESEC Praha.

almost 1 year ago, we met at SprinCo in Czech Republic and we were thinking about future, I was applying for MC in HK and Petra for AI...and now, we have met again, in HK :)

if you havent been abroad for longer time, you can hardly imagine how amazing is the feeling, when you will meet people from your country, with the same mindset, who can speak your language, who understand your feelings and who can make your day. Whom you can say form the bottom of your heart how do you really feel....

to be continued including also pictures

Chinese New Year - "education" for foreigners
by AIESEC PolyU

finaly i got to know more about Chinese New Year - and the most interesting is the "fairytale" why chinese people celebrate it, about the cool animal called Lin, why there are red papers with wishes everywhere and also kind of "fake fireworks". I hope i will be able to get this story in English and with pictures so I can post it here.
we also find out what are the main traditions, why there is so many flowers everywhere, why people are giving to each other red pockets, how to make typical "sweets", tasking sugar candies....
and for me the most interesting was calligraphy ! Thats amazing thing...right, very difficult for foreigners, but thanks to alll our "teachers" we managed somehow :)
this afternoon belongs to the best moments in during my stay in HK ! PolyU members, great job !!!

Chinese New Year - 2009, year of Ox

CNY Tournament in Footbal

Sparta Praha vs. Blue Wings, Korea

1st day of Chinese New Year I have spent with traditional Czech actitivy - watching footbal match. At amazing footbal stadium in HK, with czech friends who are living in HK...seems the only Czech fans, were in our group - it means 10 people out of 10 000 peope wwho attend this match.

Ok, to be honest the footbal could be much more better, but its "friendly match" and at the end, after panalties, Sparta Praha won. So see you in final and hope to see Czechs win again and show that small country has big potential :D

Different Christmas

first time being out of my country, without my family....this is the time I was afraid the most, while staying in HK....

so how was my Christmas Day in HK ? well, here they celebrate it on Dec 25th....but as I wanted to keep tradition, I prepared fish (salmon) with masked potatoes, cucumbers and budejovicky budvar :)

after really cool food and watching czech movies, skyping with my family for hours...we were hosting Dirty Christmas party in out new Flat - wow, it was really excellent ! Not very traditional way how to celebrate Christmas, but being with our friends was thebest way how to overcome homesickness...party was soooo coool ! and really dirty, esp. in the mornning when I opne doors of my room and I have seen such a dirty living room....

To enjoy Christmas, Clara organized for us ice skating - wow, I didnt do this for ages, ages....and now I tried in HK ! I would never imagine, there will be any kind of Ice in HK...relaly nice afternoon, spent with cool people.

AIESEC Karvina Reunion, Sao Paolo 2008
Czech and Slovak delegation, Sao Paolo, IC 2008

Global Village - Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Australia

Statue of Jesus, Rio de Janeiro 2008

Rio de Janeiro, August 2008

Rio de Janeiro, August 2008, Biggest footbal stadium

Rio de Janeiro, Coppacabanna, August 2008

Somewhere on the way from Hong Kong to Paris and Sao Paolo

IC 2008 -BRASIL !!!
yeah, i was there !!!!!

Some moments from 3 weeks, i have spent in Brasil

25 hours in the plane are really exhausting....on the long flights is very similar or the same food, same movies when you are flying in the same month, same movies in all routes....and i was so tired that sometimes i even could fall asleep. This was definitely longest flight in my life.

Rio de Janeiro - excellent and amazing place, must see while in Brasil. 3 days spent with Rostik - i was missing his joking style and stories :)

Copacabana - yeah, thruly one of the most beautiful beach in the world, amazing sea, really big waves, created for relaxin and have a nice time with your friends

Sugar leaf - before i came i had no idea smthg like this exist :-) the mos funny was climbing to the cable car - around 45 minutes go to really heady hill but at the end view for whole Rio de Janeiro was worth for it.

Jesus statue - wow, sooo huge and big. Im happy i was voting for it to be in New 7 World Wonders !

AP pre-meeting - i didnt expect so much but the bect time from whole IC. I got to know people from all AP countries, I find out how cool they are, what is the secret of cup noodle party (yes, only cup noodles, no alcohol inside) and how AP care - and thats thrue AP is big, big family and sharing is caring.

Hong Kong roll call - OMG, for the first time i was participating, cantonese is really fucking difficlt but i have to still practice more

IC 2008 !!!

incredible - to see so many people from diferent countries...this year IC was in the time of Olympics games - Im wondering how is possible student run organisation can meet every year, people from 106 countries + expansions and in "real" world its possible just during Olympic games, there is always a lot of negotiation, reasons why this and that country cannot come...everything connected only with politics....this is the main impact of AIESEC !

feeling powerless - not only olympic games but also attacks in Georgia - on IC there was delegation from Georgia, when they spoke how is the real situation in their country, how it influence life of people, some LC offices were destroyed...delegation from georgia was present in Brasil, trying to fight for better future
new insights - after 2 hours talk with amazing person form Afghanistan i really changed my mind and i started to think more about all countries in that area. I was interested in as one of my really good friend is having traineeship there and i was so surprised from all the informations i got - when someone willa sk you what do you know about Afghanistan? i suppose the same as me - war, bomb attacks, destroyed country as we can see in TV....but the reality is very, very different...
meet friends i would never say we will meet again - especially in Brasil

Vova last year in Ukraine we promised to each other we will meet on IC in Brasil and we did, this year we promised to meet in malaysia next year - so lets see !

Fernanda - she was CEED in Prague in 2004, i have met her in Poland and now in Brasil - I could believe to my eyes - she was in Europe now she is in Brasil...

Jolin - my dear friend who care about me time to time when i was in Shanghai

Greg - long story, but after working in my OC team, faci team in Poland we met in AP family !

meeting friends, i knew they will be there, and i couldnt wait to meet them !

AIESEC Czech Republic delegation - waaaa, so cool to meet them, especially our ex EB Prague with which i have spent intensive year, speak in czech language, hear again jokes just czechs and slovaks understand, have a fun, share gossips, drink with them - you will understand when you will be abroad for longer time.

International "Czech" people - all friends who are currently, as me, international MC members - we share the same happiness, same challenges...talk with them helped me a lot ! to fins out, we all are going through the same process. Good luck !
Czech and Slovaks - having fun at IC
- making confusion for others - shouting - Czechoslovakia !

- really random dance at Global village - "polka" together with singing "vysoky jalovec"

- making drunk everyone at CEE party - oh, it is not so strong, it has only 38 % of alcohol

- plan to have 100 exchanges + 1 CEED between AIESEC Czech and Slovakia and explanation that Czech cannot ensure 1 CEED :D :D:D
- Banik !!! during picture time after UBS award ceremony (we had sooo much fun !)
- Karvina reunion - me, Majo and Moni have met in Brasil !

- Praha reunion - me, Martin, Vojta, Roman and Peta V.

- roll call at closing plenary - as Czech delegation has to leave earlier, all people who are International "Czechs" did it ! so completely different group of people than at opening plenary :D

as everything, also IC has to finish ...what I value the most on IC is huge networking...i have met so many cool people, i can say friends and i hope i will stay in touch with them !

another valuable is - I have better overview about AIESEC in Hong Kong, esp. how is perceived by other countries, position in the network and what i have to work on !

Important part of - being international - life
PAAARRRRTTTTTYYYYYYs
to be honest i have never attend many parties with topic :) as its usual in Czech Republic - go party=be drunk before you will go to the club, if someone ask you to dress in some topic - majority of people dont care and its sooooo sad :( parties can be so, so coool!
and as Czech people like to have a fun, 1st party - also in MC flat - after more thatn 11 months was
CZECH PARTY !
June
hosted by me and Petr Jiskra (who spent 2 months in Hong Kong) and his friend Lukas (he just came for 1 week to Hong Kong) and Derek (returnee, he spent 9 months having traineeship in Studenka).
czech food : goulas, fried cheese, fried bread, spa wafels, haslerky, tatranky, czech beer - Budejovicky budvar, Becherovka, Slivovice
great moood : around 40 people attended, we had a lot, lot of fun...especially some of participants :)
this was house warming party for new MC flat party life :) every month at least one party in MC flat

MC Planning

BE THE ONE !

for all MC members probably one of things you are afraid the most :-) but at the end, it is really nice to get to know your teammates, see how much they want to give to AIESEC in their country, how many fresh ideas, power and energy is in your team...you enjoy lot of fun with them - especially when there is Typhoon warning which is raising its degree, you are staying at place, which is 10 meters from the sea...rainstorm, see windows with tape - it means, that when the typhoon will be too much strong this windows can be broken - basically safety on the first place :-)...you are playing I have never...and at the end you will realize that Chinese culture and peope are at the same way...but we were working too, of course and here it is

MC vision for AIESEC in Hong Kong

June 14, 2008

Looking back for term 2007/2008

why now? In few weeks my term as MC Director for Exchange Development in AIESEC in Hong Kong will start and new stage of my life.

I still remember the time when i started to think for the first time about EB in Praha - it was at MCP elections in 2007, while eating in the break, Esko(LCP of Praha in 06/07) came to me asked me - dont want you apply for EB in Praha? And my reaction - are you crazy? Im too long in AIESEC, I was not recruited in AIESEC Praha...and his reply - I dont want to get the reply now, just think about it :-) after some time our term started...me as VP XD responsible for the "biggest value of AIESEC Praha" - OGX realisations together with whole EB we started to fight for AIESEC Praha.

EB term was intensive learning for each of us, even for me, as I was already some time in AIESEC. We challenged each other almost every time we met, we had a lot of discussions, misunderstanding, learning, feedbacks, hours and hours of meetings, urgent emails, action steps.... and i can not forget a lot, lot of fun.
Really unforgettable 1 year. And as we gave to AIESEC Praha all the best from ourselves, I hope we moved LC Praha forward...after our term finished - all EB 07/08 members are LEADING BY EXAMPLE.

Lucka now in Hong Kong, going through MC transition
Roman and Vojta are preparing for kick- off Czech MC term 08/09
Martin is sucesfully leading LC Praha as LCP
Klara was selected as project manager of Career Days 2009 as first girl in history, and will go for traineeship to Colombia
Mishan decided to go for exchange and make his dream come thrue - he is leaving in few days for traineeship to Afghanistan, which is connected with his interest - training, facilitating and HR area

Good luck to all of us and dont forget:"Shut-up and share":D in czech : "Drzte huby a sharujte" :D

Zavody dracich lodi
Dragon Boat Races

*********************************************************************************

The proper name of the festival is actually The Duan Wu (Tuen Ng in Cantonese) Festival. Dragon Boat racing, which is the main activity linked to the festival, is held each year on the fifth day of the fifth month of the Lunar Calendar to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan (pronounced Chu Yuan), a well-loved statesman and poet, who lived in the Chinese kingdom of Chu more than 2,000 years ago.

The government of the Kingdom of Chu was a corrupt one and after jealous rivals falsely accused him of treason, Qu Yuan was banished. In despair, and perhaps as a final gesture against the government, Qu Yuan threw himself into the Mi Lo River.

The festival's distinctive dragon boat races are a re-enactment of the frantic, vain attempts of the fishermen who rowed out to save him.

Special rice-and-meat dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves (zong zi) are eaten at this time of the year. They symbolize those that were thrown into the river to prevent fish from eating Qu Yuan's body, and to appease his spirit.

Although the traditional rice dumplings stem from the legend of Qu Yuan, their distinctive pyramid shape and leaf wrappings come from another legend. In about 40BC a high-ranking official revealed to fishermen that their offerings were being eaten by the River Dragon and suggested that they wrap the rice in leaves first and then tie them with the lucky five-coloured threads which the dragon monster dreaded.

Footbal match - Czech vs. Switzerland 1:0

I kdyz nejsem velky fanousek fotbalu a preferuju hokej, nemohla jsme si nechat ujit sanci potkat cca 20 cechu a slovaku zijicich v Hong Kongu a prijit podporit nase fotbalisty, alespon na dalku.

**************************************

Even when Im not such a big fan of footbal, i cannot miss opportunity to meet another czech and slovak people who are living in Hong Kong, enjoy slovak goulash soup and especially be fan of czech national footbal team and cross fingers for our "boys".
As usuall in the bar was more Swiss people than czehc but anywy, we won and the victory was really sweet!
One of the most poverful moment for me ws to hear Czech national anthem before the match, when all czech people stand up - as it should be- and were singing this song which is incredible.

Panorama Hong Kongu v noci -nadhera, ze?
Hong Kong panorama in the night, isnt it amazing?

Prvni noc v Hong Kongu
